Similar in appearance to scenic jasper, polychrome jasper boasts unique coloring including shades of brown, orange, red, green, and blue. In rare cases, picks and purples may also be found. Like other jaspers, the interesting colours and designs of the stones allow for unique patterns to be visible. It is even possible for scenery to be created through the careful carving of the stone to create the appearance of blue skies and tan hills or mountains. Polychrome jasper is a relatively new stone, discovered in 2006 while miners searched for a secondary source of ocean jasper.
