Selenite XL Sphere
Selenite is an alternate name for the mineral gypsum. The word Selenite comes from the Greek selenites, meaning moon stone or moon rock. Selenite is a natural insulator and will appear much warmer to the touch than other crystals. It is a very soft stone, and may come in several different crystal formations. Included are selenites called desert roses, these are flower resembling selenites that have tiny blade-like crystals, sometimes coming in browns, greens, beige, grey, or white. Fibrous selenite, also called satin spar, has a chatoyant flash to it, it may be found in crystal formations several meters long. This satin spar selenite is sometimes made into unusual decorator pieces. Clear selenite crystals may occur in smaller sizes.
Selenite is used to make drywall, concrete, and plaster of Paris and also in the production of tofu as well as the production of mead and home brew. It is also used as an ingredient in Chinese medicine and more recently in foot creams, shampoos, and other hair products.
The sphere represents completion, the realization of all possibilities. To carve a sphere one must cut away a mass of rock which can be as much as ten times the finished creation. Thus a sphere symbolizes all that we need to release in order to reach our goals and attain perfection.
Many use a sphere while meditating as they believe it helps to release worry and may help to take them to a deeper state. A sphere is also the perfect centerpiece for a crystal arrangement or rock altar. In feng shui, the ancient art of creating optimal energy flow in an environment, a sphere is ideal to place in the center of a room for its balancing abilities.
Selenite is said to be the "Stone of Mental Clarity;" it is thought to be a bringer of light.
Please note that the item you receive may have slight variations from the one photographed. Selenite is a soft stone, therefore there will be natural imperfections.
